PCC SE Campus

Various updates support active community college campus

On the PCC SE Campus, SEA completed 8 projects throughout the campus. The first was a series of TI coordination drawings used by PCC to help with the leasing and construction of the newly created tenant retail spaces. The two areas examined were the “Old School” coffee shop in the Learning Commons and the unoccupied retail space along 82nd Ave in the Student Commons Building.

This led to the “Field Electric” tenant improvement in the Student Common buildings. The scope included a dedicated restroom, minor storefront modifications, and all primary MEP utilities.

SEA then redefined the SE Campus’ main vehicular entry with a stronger, more permanent sense of arrival. The approach was to create two small pavilions that flanked the main entry drive in order to create a “gateway”. To further that gateway concept, and to help promote student activity in the western portion of the campus, SEA developed a new plaza and entry point for the recently renovated Community Hall in the Administration Annex.

For the plaza, the approach was to create linear space to help draw people across campus. A long screen wall and bench not only helped generate movement across the site but to also minimize some unsightly mechanical equipment.

For this portion of the work, the final project was the Disaster Recovery Site Assessment. This included a feasibility study of converting existing building space into a high-tech data center. SEA led a diverse team of consultants, stakeholders, and estimators to help develop a comprehensive set of documents in order to define the scope and cost of this highly technical endeavor.

PCC and SEA also collaborated to renovate an existing building into a new child development center. Updates include a welcoming entry canopy, three bright and light classrooms, faculty support space, MEP and fire/life safety upgrades, and a new large playground that incorporated many of the majestic heritage trees on the site.
