The Tualatin Service Center is a 15,700 sf public works facility. The project includes a 9,500 sf office addition to the existing operations building, which will house building permits, engineering, and traffic court staff. Configured to optimize the communication between all staff, the building optimizes space by reducing circulation and simplifying the spatial configuration. The court’s functions will double as a community meeting room, and is located toward the entrance for easy public access. The addition uses the same materials chosen for the adjacent operations building to create a campus feel and to further link the existing office building to the rest of the site. To ensure that the building remains functional in the case of a seismic event, the new addition sits on a mat foundation.
