The Dougy Center
After an arson fire took away their home, The Dougy Center, a Portland-based non-profit that helps grieving children and families cope with loss, was determined to turn tragedy into opportunity.
Details
S|EA worked closely with The Dougy Center to rethink how a building can facilitate therapeutic healing by creating an environment that embraced a person’s individual expressions of grief. The new center is designed to provide a safe harbor for individuals at their most vulnerable, allowing counselors to support clients in a comfortable and homelike environment. The traditional architecture evokes the quintessential sense of hearth and home while blending seamlessly into the existing residential neighborhood.
